Dental Braces Treatment

As a Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment: Dental Braces Treatment

The elements that ensure the beautiful smile and integrity of aesthetic teeth are just like the instruments that make up unique musical artwork. Just as these musical instruments create harmony when they are performed together, aesthetically aligned teeth, healthy gums, a beautiful lip, and chin structure come together to reveal a unique and beautiful smile.

If we take the dental alignment on its own, again, being in the right position in terms of aesthetic appearance and not having abnormal alignment structures are required to ensure cosmetic dentistry. Abnormalities in the alignment of the teeth will also create cosmetic problems of the gums. Also, calculus formation is possible because the overlapping teeth are suitable for bacterial accumulation. This will trigger bad breath and caries as well. The problem of abnormal tooth alignment does not only produce aesthetical deficits; It prepares the ground for conditions that can be a threat to oral and dental health

How to Eliminate Abnormal Alignment of Teeth?

At this point, orthodontic treatments are in the first place; such as invisible braces, porcelain braces treatment, Invisalign braces treatment. First of all, in cases where orthodontic treatments are insufficient to fix the problem, the smile design provided with porcelain lumineer veneers or leaf porcelain crowns and zirconium veneer crowns and the abnormal alignment is eliminated Thanks to these treatments, with the help of the braces teeth with abnormal alignment take proper positions; malocclusion is removed; Gaps between the teeth are closed and possible dental and gum diseases are prevented.

Fast Braces Treatment

Fast Braces Treatment: What is Fastbraces?
Our patients, who will have rapid braces treatment due to cosmetic reasons, wonder how long this treatment will last and when it will recover. At this point, the general patient expectation is that braces provide positive results as quickly as possible.

In old-style dental braces, both aesthetically pleasing images were seen and the treatment processes could be prolonged. However, nowadays, braces treatments provide aesthetically more satisfying results and can be terminated in a shorter time. This rapid braces method is called “Fastbraces”. Thanks to the fastbraces method, the treatment time of dental alignment is almost halved.

What Treatment Process is Provided with Fastbraces?
With the Fastbraces method, recovery is provided in 5-12 months. Also, improvement can be observed even in the first weeks of treatment. Fastbraces method, which is a fast orthodontic technique, is an innovative application that provides results with a much more advanced system than conventional dental braces.

In the classical dental braces treatment, a visible improvement was seen in the first year; In the second year of treatment, the roots are aligned as well. While the healing process in classical techniques takes about two years, the fastbraces technique simultaneously aligns the crowns and roots of the teeth with its mechanical structure. A serious shortening occurs in the treatment process. Metal and porcelain braces materials can be used for the Fastbraces technique.

The treatment process is much shorter.
The patient’s mouth with fastbraces adapts much more quickly. The patient’s adaptation period process becomes easier.

Thanks to the effective improvement in the roots of teeth, the need for reinforcement after treatment is reduced.
What Conditions Are Encountered in the First Week of Treatment?
The first week of treatment should be considered as an adaptation process; It should be known that the tough situations experienced during this period are temporary.
The lips may feel full due to contact with braces; But over time, the presence of braces is get used and their presence does not regard as strange.
Aches are possible the first few days-weeks of biting. This is due to the teeth being pulled and moved these aches are temporary.
Aft-like sores may occur on the lips or cheeks due to contact with the hook-shaped protrusions on the braces. In this case, it may be beneficial to gargle with salty water 2-3 times a day until the wounds heal.
Some braces may break in the first month. In this case, if any pain, ache or discomfort is not felt, it would be proper to go to the dentist’s control on the appointed visit. However, the dentist should be consulted when a painful stinging problem exists.
Care of Brace
After each meal, food residues must be cleaned. Otherwise, food residue left at the braces may cause bacterial growth in the mouth and causes dental decays.
Oral and dental care before sleep becomes even more important in fastbraces treatment. For this reason, braces and teeth have been brushed before going to sleep. The tip of the brush should contact on the top of the braces with a slope of 45° and brush moved from top to bottom as it was sweeping. Then; All the braces should be brushed horizontally from the right to left, and the chewing and inner surfaces of the teeth should also be brushed thoroughly.

What is Bruxism?

Bruxism (Grinding or Clenching Of The Teeth)

What is Bruxism?

Bruxism is the term used to describe teeth grinding and/or clenching also is one of the most common known sleep disorders and causes most of its damage during sleeping hours.

What are Bruxism Treatment Methods?

Commonly the first treatment that we reccomend att our clinic is Night Guards or known as a transparent protective plaque plates measured according to the size of the patients mouth that places in the mouth before sleep.

The aim of the night guards  is to prevent the symptoms that may occur due to tooth grinding and to increase the comfort of our patient’s during sleeping, while at the same time preserving the health of the teeth and the whole mouth.

Another treatment method that we apply clinically to our patients with bruxism is the botox applications. Botox treatment, which we generally associate with facial plastic surgery operations, is a treatment method we use in individuals with severe bruxism. Essentially, injecting masseter botox into the masseter (cheek) muscles relaxes the main muscle related to bruxism.

Pediatric Dentistry

Pedodontics

Pediatric dentistry (pedodontics) is the general name of treatment methods for dental and oral health suitable for all stages of childhood. All methods preferred in pedodontics are preferred by adhering to physiological and psychological developments that vary depending on the age ranges of children. These treatment methods cover the period from the time when the deciduous teeth started to have erupted until the adolescence.

The primary goal of pedodontics is to ensure that the deciduous teeth that last before permanent teeth are kept in a healthy mouth. If deciduous teeth are unhealthy or lost, it is important to take precautions in order not to risk the health of permanent teeth. In other words, pedodontics aims to maintain the health of deciduous teeth and to keep permanent teeth healthy in the mouth.

The Importance of Deciduous Teeth

v

Deciduous teeth, which begin to erupt within the first six months of infancy, accompany individuals in childhood until permanent teeth erupted take their place in the mouth. In this regard, deciduous teeth can be permanent, even if they are not permanent, either because of the duty they undertake during the development period and because they shape the existence and alignment of permanent teeth that will be erupted.

On the general acceptance, deciduous teeth erupt in the 5 to 6 months and the stay until the permanent teeth take their place in the mouth between 24 and 30 months. There are many skills gained during childhood; such as chewing and speaking.

Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric Dentistry ;For all these functions to develop completely, a healthy mouth and teeth structure is required. The problems experienced in terms of oral health will also hinder the development and functioning of these capabilities. Physiological disorders that occur during childhood may cause psychological traumas in children who are about to be adults.

Especially the problems experienced in terms of oral health and aesthetics have a determinative impact in terms of the aesthetic integrity of the face, which may be the reason psychological problems such as lack of self-confidence, shyness and anxiety children.

If deciduous teeth are broken, decayed, or lost for some reason, nutritional problems will arise; Developmental problems may be seen in cases where nutrition is inadequate which have a crucial effect on physiological development. Because malnutrition leads to an improper development process.

Pediatric Dentistry

One of the most important duties of deciduous teeth is guiding permanent teeth. Here, there is a social misunderstanding about the issue: the statement that ‘Deciduous teeth are not permanent and not cared about too much’ is a mistake and causes huge problems related to oral health,.

However, deciduous teeth maintain the eruption of the permanent teeth and act as a guide for them to be kept in the mouth. By keeping the deciduous teeth in a healthy mouth, permanent teeth are positioned properly and the desired tooth alignment is provided.

However, if the deciduous teeth are lost earlier than expected, the other teeth slide towards the gap created by the missing tooth and as a result, the tooth alignment is impaired. The permanent teeth coming from after deciduous teeth cannot be positioned properly under these conditions and the general alignment of the teeth is lost.

The Problem of Early Loss of Deciduous Teeth

In a research carried out at Ankara University, it was determined that 87% of five thousand patients who received orthodontic braces treatment had orthodontic problems due to early loss of deciduous teeth.

As a result of this research, it clearly shows us the importance of deciduous teeth and proves that what extent permanent teeth are affected by the fate of the deciduous teeth. In a way, we can say that deciduous teeth are an important factor in determining the fate of permanent teeth.

Treatment Methods for Deciduous Teeth

Overall our clinical approach is primarily to explain the importance of deciduous teeth to parents and encourage them to take the necessary care to protect the existence of deciduous teeth. However, in case of decay in deciduous teeth or loss for any reason, it becomes essential to fill the cavity with a method called “placeholder” to prevent the alignment abnormality of the other teeth. In this way, the position of the other teeth and the future permanent teeth are maintained.

Otherwise, braces may be required in the majority of children who have been exposed to such problems in the future. Another application is the so-called “fissure sealant” for preventing the formation of caries and plaque on the tooth surfaces.

Thanks to this method, both the deciduous teeth are protected and caries that may occur during the application of the permanent teeth are prevented.

Dental Care in Children

Children cannot provide efficient dental care in terms of both cognitive and hand ability. For this reason, it will be a necessary and healthy approach for parents to undertake dental care of their children, especially in the period up to 5 years old. It is useful to clean the mouth, as food residues will accumulate in the mouth during the transition period from breast milk to solid foods, especially during infancy.

In addition to helping children, the best thing to do is to teach them proper dental care and oral hygiene. Children with this care will be more elaborate individuals regarding dental care as well as individuals without bias in terms of dental treatments and dentist examination.

Dental Care

It will be useful to introduce children with the dentist at the age of 1 to enlighten and educate them about improper applications. In particular, parents should be warned against baby bottle decays. Another proper approach that supports this dental care is to introduce children with a dentist at the age of 3-4 years.

It is also important to bring children to routine dental visits at the age of 3-4 for preventive measures. In this process, parents are advised to brush their children’s teeth with automatic toothbrushes. Toothpaste produced for children is also important for dental care.

While the parents are guided by the dentist with the proper practices, the children will grow without prejudgment against any future dental treatment and have no fear of dentist. Again, the fissure sealant treatment will act as a shield against dental decays that may occur in childhood

Sinus Augmentation

Sinus Lifting

Sinus augmentation: Sinus lifting surgery is performed by two methods; the first sinus lifting technique is the closed sinus lifting technique and the other is the open sinus lifting technique.

The anatomical spaces located in our upper jaw near our teeth are called maxillary sinuses; the duty of this sinuses is to provide sound formation and to relieve the pressure applied by the weight of the head. With the sagging sinus cavities, bone structure in the region is lost over time.

Sinus lifting:Sinus lifting operation is performed by two methods; The first is the closed sinus lifting technique, the other is the open sinus lifting technique. To eliminate this situation, which is especially unfavorable in terms of implant treatment, the addition of bone grafting to the cavity to raise the sinus membrane level is called sinus lifting. Lifting is used as a raising operation is performed for positioning the sinus floor higher.

Sinus Lifting Operations

Sinus lifting: Sinus lifting operation is performed by two methods; The first one is the closed sinus lifting implant technique and the other one is open sinus lifting implant technique. In closed sinus lifting (krastel) operation, bone is added into the cavity during implant placement.

The closed technique is similar to the laparoscopic surgical technique. Laser technique is used during the operation; Bone graft is taken from another region of the body added into the cavity. We generally recommend the closed technique by evaluating the clinical conditions of the case.

In open sinus lifting (vesturbilel) operation, firstly, local anesthesia is applied. In the open technique, a surgical incision is made from a distinctive area; The sinus is lifted to the required extent, and grafting is performed by adding bone graft into the formed cavity. Then the surgical area is closed. The total duration of the sinus lifting procedure ranges from 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

Sinus After Lifting

Sinus lifting: Since a bone graft is added to the area, there is a need for the healing process for the regeneration of the additional structure and other tissues. Several preventive measures that need to be implemented immediately after the operation will ensure that this recovery process and comfort. These preventive measures can be listed as follows:

  • Prescribed drugs should be taken.
  • A cold compress should be applied to the area to prevent swelling after the procedure. It is important to apply
  • pressure if recommended.
  • If recommended, the nose should not be blown for at least four weeks. Sneezing should be avoided if so it has to be done without blocking the airway open.
  • It is extremely important to apply pressure for half an hour by biting the gauze to the area after surgical procedures.
  • Extreme sports should be avoided for at least one month and the use of brass instruments should not be played.
  • Smoking should be stopped for at least two weeks.
  • Stitches will be removed at the end of the first week.
